Acoustic Sessions @ The Bread and Roses, Clapham

For the Love of Music will be putting on an Acoustic Sessions @ The Bread and Roses pub in Clapham. It is the first one and may evolve into a regular fixture. As we are based in South London and there is a distinct lack of venues in the SW4 and Clapham area we feel it is time to create a musical community that rivals that of North and East London.

The night is Wednesday 16th February, music starts at 7.30 pm and we have excellent acoustic tunage from some of Londons top artists, on the bill this time is FLOM regulars Strangely Famous, also Richard Soward, Paul Noels and our own Adam Taylor. The venue is located on Clapham Manor Street, see below for a map with directions to the venue.

It is a cool pub with an atmospheric interior and is run by the Battersea and Wandsworth Trades Union council which is a group of dedicated, mostly unpaid volunteers, who support local and international workers’ right campaigns from Wimbledon to Haiti, so it is a worthy organisation which FLOM are proud to be associated with.

Any musicians from the South London area reading this we are looking for people to play in the future so please contact us @ flomproductions08@gmail.com and we’ll put you on our database and contact you about playing a future show.

We can officially annouce our next show will be at The Workshop @ Road Trip bar in Old Street on Wednesday 10th November. Gem of an underground venue underneath the Road Trip bar perfect to house some chilled acoustic music, which is exactly what we are going to do. Music starts from 8pm and it is £3 entry. Click on the pictures below to see who’s playing and it’ll direct you to their music.

To get to The Workshop get out at Old Street tube station, walk east towards Shoreditch high street and it is on the left just past the firestation (feel free to hurl a bit of abuse at the lazy firemen on strike too)

Well South West Four was an epic weekend of dance music, perfectly located near to FLOM productions HQ in Clapham, London. Dancing commenced early Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening with Fat Boy Slim rounding the night off. He teased us with hints of his hit songs until unleashing fury to the delight of the crowds. We will certainly be back next year. Here are some picture from the weekend.

Live Music Clapham August Bank Holiday Weekend

This weekend we see a lot of live music hitting the area of Clapham. Dominating is the ever anticipated South West Four dance festival on Clapham Common. With artists including Fatboy Slim, Salt n Pepa, Eric Morello and Paul Oakenfold it should be a raving weekend, FLOM will be there and we’ll upload some photos of it next week. Kicking the weekend off though is some live music on Friday 27th August at Claphams number one music venue Arch 365. Taylor, an intrinsic part of the FLOM circle will be performing an acoustic set at 8.30pm supporting 2 unsigned bands. There is a late bar till 3am and entry is £5 with a text flyer. It only leaves us to don our musical caps and flex those untrained legs for a weekend of musical magnificence!

Review of Acoustic Showcase

For the Love of Music’s first London show started on a great note with excellent performances from all the musicians. The vibe was excellent, one punter describing it as very bohemian, which is exactly what For the Love of Music is about.

Kicking off the night was Richard Soward accompanied by Rowland O’Connor, together formally known as Lucid Oak. They jammed out some vintage covers and originals including James Browns ‘I Feel Good’, they are great musicians who have performed regularly across London and even the world! We look forward to hearing them play at a future gig.

Second on was bluesy folk artist Pete Leonard on a road trip from Salisbury, Wiltshire to perform. His unique brand of music is mesmerizing and very accomplished. Halfway into his set he brandished a harmonica ensuing a clap along from the crowd.

On third was local Brixtonian Simon Garrard who performed a great set. His alternative folk and Frank Turner esque powerful style of acoustic music gave the night an upbeat feel and his raw emotional vocals accompanied it perfectly. Simon will definetly be performing again at a FLOM production.

Next up was Taylor playing a short but sweet set with funky vibes accompanied with his loop pedal which impressed members of the audience. His retro grooves and lyrical content worked well in the surroundings of the retro vintage clothing store which was the venue.

Headlining the evening was Strangely Famous headed by Craig Davidson a three piece act including Robin Lawrence on bass and Richard Soward on percussion who performed their well polished original songs. They were great and had everyone singing along to the famous ‘Valerie’ at the end of their set.

We would like the thank everyone that was involved in the evening it was a brilliant gig and we look forward to future musical events and strengthening the community of music lovers.

FLOM Music Event: Acoustic Showcase @ Secondo, Clapham

Hey guys, we have confirmed the line up for Acoustic Showcase @ Secondo retro clothing bar / cafe on Saturday 14th August.

There will be a nice blend of funk, folk, rock and indie. The night will also play host to some comedy acts making the night an all round entertainment bonanza!
