FLOM would like to introduce you to The Rose Gale Trust, a charity organisation set up in the south of England to help support and provide meaningful grants to young people. It is in honour and memory of Rose Gale a wonderful lady who worked with, supported and inspired very many young people during her life. We were very privildge to have met her and worked with her ourselves at Bass Connection in Salisbury, an organisation set up to house and encourage local young musicians.

The ideas of the Rose Gale Trusts are the following:

developing skills and experience

getting training and education

needing help in a crisis

helping others

having great ideas

A source of funding for this charity includes a variety of musical events which are organised around the Salisbury area, a few events have already taken place, but more are being planned for September 2010, so make sure you check out the website for further details of this. You can also donate directly to them and also contact them if you have any marvellous ideas which may help them out.

FLOM HQ has now moved to London, the big smoke, the land of opportunity! We realise we have been extremely quiet over the last few months, and this is justifiable with the pressures of such a big move, but do not fear as we are still here, and ready to bombard you with more musical developments. We are dividing our time between London and the South West of England to gain more scope on the music industry and also hopefully create a platform for many young unsigned artists looking to step, creep or leap into the London Music scene (or visa-versa).

We are also looking to provide you our loyal followers with more services and amenities on this website. Here are a few things in the developmental pipeline:

Crispystock 09

Preparations for Crispystock 09 are well under way, the annual rockfest in memory of Christopher Vearncombe who died in 2006.

This years festival is being held at a new venue ‘The Lights’ in Andover on Saturday 12th September with acts performing on the main stage and acoustic stage. Some of the performers include Sion, Plastic Toys, Run The Division and Sir William Moonhead.

All proceeds from the event go to the charity Headway, an organisation which helps the survivors of brain injury lead their day to day lives. Crispystock is open to the public, and will have a full licensed bar and catering facilities.

We’ve added a handful of new musicians to our artists section of the website, expanding our community and promoting these talented people for the greater good of the unsigned artist! Make sure you take a look at their links and support them at their next show. Among others we have The Legendary Matt Britton - local acoustic musician from Salisbury, The Widowmaker aka Ian Easton a talented folksy blues artist and Plus Andy Reilly a singer songwriter with a great raw energy and catchy tunes.

We hope to provide all these musicians and others with that extra online coverage they deserve, by expanding our community to create something more fresh, real and interesting than the mahoosive corporations that suck us in to the mainstream namely Myspace. So please join us, make comments, tell your friends and help us bring back music to a new level.

Let it Snow

Well the weather is pretty crazy at the moment so with the more of you at home doing nothing but surfing the net, some might say it would be convenient to write a blog so here you are, happy snow day! ooh don’t people get so excited

Anyhow we bring you some relevant news, well its kind of news.. we are in the process of organising our next show, an acoustic event at a currently undisclosed venue in Southampton. So while we confirm the details and recruit some musicians from the FLOM circle of friends, it gives you time to build up that excitement and save those pennies.

Preparations are also taking place for our music festival this summer so if you have the time why not give us suggestions on anyone you think would go down well at this summer event, or who you’ve seen recently and your general thoughts on this subject.

My Last Gig - Goodbye Richie Madisun

So Flom productions were at Richie Madisuns last ever show! He is now calling an end to his solo career! Its a sad time but we put on a brave face to attend his last ever show.
So it was an all dayer @ The Globe in Andover, a quirky little pub with an upstairs called ‘The Blue Room’ which had great lighting and it was the perfect setting for an array of acoustic acts to perform to the local Andover crowds. The event started at 2 with Richie taking to the stage and performing some of his classics including ‘Scarborough’ and ‘Festival Whore’. He put on a typical Richie performance with solid vocals and his witty charm.

Also on the bill was Darrell J of Harris n Ford who put in a dedicated set, following him included Talicza Stevens, Adam Taylor, Ian Easton and Plus Andy Reilly who all put in solid and fun filled performances.

There was a good mood in the air and as the night went on more drinks were consumed and there was even a little dancing to the tunes in between acts! It was a great event and has linked us to more musicians who we will be plugging on our website and hopefully to getting along to play at a show soon.

Which way are we going???

Ok so we have taking a little while to work out where we want to go with FLOM and have been traveling around looking for new artists to join our ‘collective bow.’ Ad and Mike are now looking to put a mini festival on next summer. We wanted to do something big and fancy a challenge. So suggestions on bands and themes welcomed! It will be for the fans of FLOM and of the bands around the South West so lets get the ball rolling. This doesn’t mean that gigs have stopped we are going to have a few in your local area soon!! Keep the Love Of Music, cheers.

So guys, things are coming together behind the scenes at Flom productions and we will soon be unveiling some new shows for you with some fresh new musical acts and familiar faces!

Crispystock was a great weekend and a huge success, many people flocked to The George Pub in Andover to see acoustic acts perform during the day and then the main bands rocking it up in the evening. Our friends Harris n Ford also made a last minute appearance on the Saturday which was a welcome delight, you can check out their profile on our artist page.
